Anuar González Hemadi: from the "Los Porkys" case to the fiscal fuel theft

The name of Anuar González Hemadi is back in the headlines in Mexico. Known for his controversial ruling in the Veracruz "Los Porkys" case, the former judge, dismissed in 2019, is reappearing, now linked to one of the largest fuel theft networks detected in the country.
What seemed like the end of his judicial career turned into a new chapter marked by accusations of corruption and links to organized crime , in a case that connects the judiciary with illegal fuel trafficking.
In 2015, González Hemadi shocked the country by granting an injunction to Diego Cruz Alonso, accused of participating in the rape of Daphne Fernández , on the grounds of "incidental contact." The ruling sparked national outrage, was overturned, and marked his downfall.
The Federal Judiciary Council removed him from office in 2019, and the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation , under Arturo Zaldívar, confirmed the measure in 2024. However, far from disappearing, González Hemadi reinvented himself: in 2023 he became the legal representative of Mefra Fletes , a key company in hydrocarbon trafficking.
According to the Attorney General's Office (FGR) , Mefra Fletes has transported millions of liters of illegal fuel. In March 2025 alone, 8 million liters linked to the company were seized in Baja California.
The firm began operations in 2020 and used strategic routes in Veracruz, Tamaulipas, and Baja California , areas controlled by groups such as the CJNG and the Gulf Cartel . With González Hemadi as legal representative, the network operated under the guise of legality, facilitating large-scale smuggling.
González Hemadi's capture occurred in an SSPC operation led by Omar García Harfuch , in coordination with the Navy and the Attorney General's Office. The operation included the arrest of 14 people , including former officials, businessmen, and active and retired sailors.
The operation is related to the seizure of the Challenge Procyon vessel, loaded with illegal hydrocarbons. Those implicated include relatives of military commanders and partners of Mefra Fletes, demonstrating the scope and complexity of fiscal huachicol in Mexico .
The figure of González Hemadi symbolizes the intersection of judicial corruption and organized crime . His name, already tainted by the Los Porkys case, is now associated with a network that affects energy security and fuels drug trafficking violence.
Experts warn that the case could open new investigations into the involvement of judges, lawyers, and officials in criminal networks that have operated with impunity for years.
